Who we are
This policy explains how MH Dept South Limited, trading as Dorset Motorhomes (company number 10622783), collects and uses your personal details. We are responsible for your details as the “data controller”. Our registered office is Unit 1a Church Farm Cottages, Church Lane, West Parley, Ferndown BH22 8TR. What we collect
- Enquiries and bookings: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the make, model and year of your vehicle, and anything you tell us about the work you need. This comes from our website forms, phone calls, emails and WhatsApp messages.
- Where the work is done: the address of your home or storage site, so we can come to you.
- Selling a vehicle through us: details and photos of the vehicle, its registration and history, and your contact details.
- Payments: invoices and records of what you have paid. We do not store card details on our website.
- Website security: our hosting provider records basic technical information, such as your device’s IP address, to keep the website secure. See our cookies policy.
The “Do we cover your area?” postcode checker works on your device only. The postcode you type is not sent to us unless you go on to submit one of our forms.
How we use your details

We do not sell your details, and we do not send marketing emails unless you have agreed to receive them.
Who we share your details with
Only where needed to run our business:
- Our website host, Rocket.net, which stores the website and the messages sent through its forms.
- WhatsApp (Meta) and our email provider, when you contact us that way.
- Buyers or sellers, only the details needed to arrange a viewing or sale, and only with your agreement.
- Our accountant, who prepares our accounts and tax returns, and QuickBooks, the system we use to create and keep invoices.
- Authorities such as HMRC or the police, where the law requires it.
Some of these companies may store information outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
How long we keep your details
We keep invoices and financial records for six years, as UK tax law requires. If your enquiry does not lead to any work, we delete your details within 14 days. After that, we delete them or keep them in a form that no longer identifies you.
Keeping your details safe
Our website uses a secure connection, and access to customer details is limited to the people who need them to do their job.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the details we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- ask us to delete your details, where we do not need to keep them by law
- object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your details
- ask us to pass your details to another organisation

Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way we use your details changes.
If you ask us about a service carried out by one of our trusted partners, such as motorhome and caravan detailing, we will share your name, contact details, vehicle details and any photos with that partner so they can contact you, but only with your agreement, which you give on the enquiry form.
Using your location in our chat window. If you tap “Use my location” in our “Chat to us” window, your device asks your permission first. If you allow it, your approximate location is sent to postcodes.io, a free UK postcode lookup service, only to find the nearest postcode district, which is then added to your message. We do not store your location, and it is never used for anything else. You can type your postcode instead if you prefer.
Remembering you on your own device. To make our menu quicker to use, our website can remember, on your own phone or computer only, details of your vehicle (its type, and its make, model and year if you give them), the month of your last check if you enter it, your name if you include it in one of our forms or in our chat window, the last page you looked at, and when you last messaged us (so we only ever ask once for a review). This is stored in your browser, is never sent to us or anyone else, and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
